Since its founding at the turn of the century, Lake Greeley Camp has provided a summer home for children between the ages of 6 to 15. Over the years the style of clothing our camper’s wear and the length of their hair have changed, however, Lake Greeley Camp has remained constant, providing a nurturing environment where children thrive and fun is our number one priority.
Rich in tradition, Lake Greeley Camp embraces its near 100 year history. By remembering our past we enhance the events and activities we offer today. The camp, however, continues to evolve. Through a sustained schedule of improvements to its facilities and the addition of innovative programs Lake Greeley Camp has kept summers exciting for generations of children and ensures its place as one of the finest in camping.
Purchased by Mike and Arline Buynak in 1959, Lake Greeley Camp has been operated by the Buynak family ever since. For 45 years children have been the center of Mike and Arline's lives. Individual attention, concern for each child and special love for children has characterized their direction from the very beginning and continues today with their son, Matthew, and his wife, Rosemary, Lake Greeley Camp’s current directors.
All of Matt's summers have been spent at camp; as a camper, a counselor and activity supervisor. Not to mention a few summers of food service experience as a dishwasher. These varied experiences have provided Matt with a unique insight into camp life and have helped prepare him for his future responsibilities. Matthew and Rosemary Buynak became the directors of Lake Greeley Camp in 1988.
For them camping is a full-time endeavor and a family affair, having had three children who attend the camp. Matt and Rose are at camp everyday and actively involved in all aspects of providing a camp experience for each child that is fun, safe and truly amazing.
